Dear Journal, It has been very hard here in Denmark. The Germans have started to take over Denmark and I know the people of Denmark will not be happy about it. We have resistance groups now, but they are going to get more violent. I am going to protest the Germans because they are trying to take over and kill all the Jews in our country. Some of my best friends are Jews, why would I want to see them die? Most Jews are trying to flee the country so they can escape and I hope in the end most of them do. No one can know they are fleeing though, because if they do they could get in a lot of trouble with the Germans and be killed anyways. I am resisting and helping out the Danish Resistance by setting up Frit Denmark. This is a newspaper that will be sold underground because it’s illegal to say anything bad about Germany. When people read this newspaper, I hope they understand that we have to do something and not just sit around. Now I have to go edit the newspaper. Signed, Mogens Fog Dear Journal, Today I am going to meet Danish Freedom Council and discuss our plans for how we are going to resist the Germans. I am an active member of the group and I am also a leader. I take a lot of pride in what I am doing because it is for a good cause and I am fighting for my people of the country I live in. It is good that I am not alone in this resistance because there is power in numbers. If any of the resistance groups get caught we could get in a lot of trouble. Our punishment by the Germans will be nothing other than death. I know this consequence but I am willing to take this chance because it is what I believe in and I will not back down to the Germans and let them win. If the resistance works out well though, the consequences will be very positive. All of the Jews will not be killed, which is a very good thing. Also, Denmark will not be taken over by the Germans and we will finally be free! Signed, Mogens Fog Dear Journal, It is another day of fighting for my countries freedom and my people. When I face my family and friends I don’t feel ashamed of what I am doing at all. They are all in favor of what I’m doing, except for my wife. She believes in what I am doing and she says it is a good thing, but she is scared that I might die. I don’t blame her for worrying because it is true, I could get killed if I’m caught, but this is what I believe in so I am not going to give it up. Over all my family and friends are pretty supportive because they know whatever I want to do, I will do it. I am mostly interested in fighting for my country’s freedom because it’s who I am. I won’t sit back and watch my country be taken over by Germany and watch my Jewish friends die because the Germans don’t like them. Those are really my motives for helping commit this act and the freedom of everyone is really what I want. Tomorrow we are going to attack the German’s and hopefully we will win freedom.
